Showrooms of Honda and Hero Honda of Syakar Company Limited remained closed in the Capital on Thursday following the protest by All Nepal Auto Mechanic Workers’ Association affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist. The association has demanded reinstatement of 11 workers dismissed by the company.
Bhakta Bahadur Lama, Kathmandu district president of the association, said they will not return to work
until the company reinstates the 11 auto mechanics dismissed in the pretext of expiration of their traineeship term.
“The company fired our auto-mechanic friends without prior notice,” he added. Workers had launched the protest since Wednesday. And on Thursday, they stopped work in all six showrooms of the Valley.
The company said the auto mechanics stopped working without providing time to proceed further as per the company’s rules regarding trainees. “We will hire workers based on their capacity,” it said.
