Info-Tech pulls in 200K visitors in three days

KATHMANDU, JAN 05 -The ongoing annual mega event of CAN Info-Tech has received overwhelming response from visitors. Over 200,000 visitors have observed the event as of Saturday, according to the organiser — Computer Association of Nepal (CAN).

Saturday—the third day of the event—witnessed 106,190 visitors. CAN General Secretary Amrit Kumar Pant said the students were present in substantial numbers and the major crowd pullers were the stalls offering new products and services, including smartphones, laptops and data services.

The organiser has targeted to attract more than 400,000 visitors during the six-day event. Chief Secretary Lila Mani Paudel also visited the expo on Saturday. The expo houses products and services from over 120 companies dealing in mobile phones, laptops, tablets, internets, routers, projectors, power solutions and other IT accessories.

The exhibitors are also offering attractive schemes and discounts. Most of the exhibitors are selling products at discounted rates or offering free gifts.

The event, which will run through Tuesday, has seen launches of a few new technologies such as fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) internet and IPTV (internet television) services from Subisu. Home-grown Neoteric Nepal has launched a tablet under its own “Neo” brand. “The huge crowed has energised us,” said Pant, adding the fourth day (Sunday) is “business day”, which focused mainly on business-to-business dealings among exhibitors and visitors.
