Govt exploring alternative models for 'fast track' road construction

KATHMANDU: The government is exploring alternative financing models to construct the 76-km-long Kathmandu-Terai Fast Track road, for which, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) is seeking approval of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) for the annuity model.

The government is coming up with an ambitious plan that aims to make 70 per cent of its services available online by 2018. For this, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MoSTE) has planned to integrate all e-services of the government to national portal.

Govt to launch new communications policy in five months

KATHMADNU, APRIL 23-- Minister for Information and Communications (MoIC) Minendra Rijal on Thursday, said that the government will bring a new policy within five months to guide the development of the overall communications sector. TBi to invest in tunnel highway to Hetauda

KATHMANDU: TBi Holdings Company, Japan, a company promoted by non-resident Nepalis (NRNs), is investing Rs one billion in Nepal Purbadhar Bikash Company Limited (NPBCL), the developer of Kathmandu-Kulekhani -Hetauda Tunnel Highway. Govt not to form Railway Board for now

Import of telecom equipment slows down by 42pc

KATHMANDU, APRIL 7--Import of telecommunication equipment has declined significantly by 41.71 per cent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, indicating low investment in the telecom sector. Telecom companies have imported equipment worth Rs 3.62 billion in the review period.

KATHMANDU, APRIL 3-- Subscription of new mobile lines has declined with the penetration rate of voice service heading towards saturation. The latest Nepal Telecommunications Authority figures show that telecom operators added fewer customers to its network this year, as telecom penetration rate rose to 86.82 per cent.
